What can I expect when adopting from Mountain Sky Rabbitry?
We raise our bunnies indoors in spacious 5x3’ cages. They are mostly, if not fully, litter-trained by the time of adoption. Our bunnies are socialized every day from birth, preparing them for a life full of snuggles. We devote hours each day to caring for and playing with our bunnies, and we truly love what we do. We strive for quality over quantity, and only breed what we can dedicate time towards. We are very responsive, and love answering any questions you might have!
We care about the homes our bunnies go to, so we have created an adoption form to make sure each buyer is prepared to commit to their bunny long-term (8-12 years). We market toward pet homes; however, breeders are welcome to work with us if we are sure the bunny is going to receive the same quality of care that it is leaving. All of our bunnies are fully pedigreed. We usually only have babies available, but once in a while, we retire some of our older herd members.
We offer lifetime support, so we are happy to answer any questions/concerns you have. If you are no longer able to care for your bunny, please contact us before selling. We will work with you to make sure it gets a wonderful new home. We greatly appreciate updates and pictures of our bunnies as they grow! We never forget a bun, and they are each special to us in some way. We hope you love having them in your home!
How do I adopt?
We have set up an adoption form so we can understand your needs/ wants. The first step in the process is to fill that out and submit it. If we have any bunnies available, you can specify which one you are interested in. If not, the waiting list is always open.
Once you have submitted the form, we will send you a conformation through the email you provided. Please note, we do have the right to refuse sale to any individual. If, based on your answers, we feel you will not be giving the bunny the utmost of care, we will inform you that you have been denied.
If you filled out the form to reserve a bunny that is 8 weeks of age or more, we will arrange pick-up/ delivery from there. Pick-up is always available, and we can meet up to 40 minutes out of Knoxville. We do not ship our bunnies, however if you are from out of state and flying in to pick-up, we can do airport delivery.
If you filled out the form to reserve a bunny under 8 weeks of age, you will receive updates about that bunny until it is ready to leave it’s Mama. At that point pick-up/ delivery becomes available.
If you filled out the form to join the waiting list, we will let you know when our next litter is born. If we have any newborn litters at that point, you will receive updates on the entire litter until they become available to reserve individually at the age of 4weeks. The, we will follow our procedure listed on the Waiting List page. Joining the waiting list guarantees a reservation from our next available litter. It is also not specified to one litter, so you can choose from any litter available at reservations time.
We expect you to be prompt with any and all communications. If we contact you needing a response and do not receive one in the next 72 hours, you will be removed from the waiting list and the bunny you had reserved will go back up for adoption.
Each bunny will come with a transition package of food, hay, and treats. If you are wanting advice or recommendations as you purchase for your bunny, send us an email and we’ll be glad to help!
Once you have picked up your bunny, now is the fun part! Spend time getting to know your bunny. Play with it daily, and have fun! We offer lifetime support, so any questions or concerns you might have we are happy to answer. If you are no longer able to care for your bunny, please contact us before selling. We will work with you and make sure it gets a home as good as yours. We also appreciate updates and pictures of our bunnies as they grow up! We never forget a bun, and they are each special to us in some way. We hope you love having them in your home!
